Pollito and Reina met while they were in Madrid 2 years ago. Pollito was working on a Masters in Corporate communication and Reina had just finished college and was working in Spain at a bilingual school. Who would have thought that a Peruvian and an American would date in Spain with so many Spaniards to date? Life has funny twists.
They met one February night while at one of their favorite night spots in Madrid, La Villa Rosa. The Villa Rosa has since been converted into a Flamenco bar. :( (In a funny coincidence, one of Pollito's friends also met his wife at Villa Rosa). Pollito and Reina dated casually for a little while, but things got more serious and when Reina went home for the summer, they both felt like it was a long summer apart.
When Reina got back to Madrid Pollito was very excited and they spent the year together exploring Madrid, having great times with great friends, learning more about each other, and taking trips to see new places. Over the course of the year they went to Barcelona, Morocco, Portugal, and France.
When the year came to an end and their opportunities in Spain had dried up, they decided they would try living in Peru, Pollito's home country. Pollito had to return home to be with his family and get to know his infant son, so Reina decided to follow him to Peru to see what it was like. They were apart for 4 months while Reina went home (and experienced loads of culture shock) and then she moved to Peru to look for a job.
